The Seasons Of Harrow, Middlesex
?How I
wish I could once again find my way to that foreign land where waits for me the
message of love! Her language I knew not, but what her eyes said will forever
remain eloquent in its anguish.?
Rabindranath Tagore in ?Sesh Lekha? (Last Writings) - 1940. Tagore pens remarks
of Victoria Ocampo, a beloved friend in Argentina.
The
simple black rock on which I stand. There?s tub-thumping stray sheep
By your boundaries ? as your grass is Acapulco gold.
In
you, the weak sun gleams with many smiles and it?s on the coats of hobos too.
People
clutch fistfuls of dollars.
In
the cold we sit side-by-side ? whistling - windy - alleys - of - sub-culture.
Wheat
grows over rocks every spring, so every little Animal Farm prospers.
Soon the hibiscus will flower on the tors standing,
just lone silhouettes in the blitzing storms. Life gradually convenes crazy,
spreading hokum -
Diagnosing
that Neal Cassady will find the peppy streets banging like The City whence the
tar would stink diesel ????? and melt ??????????????? waiting for the blasted white
snow and Purple Rain.
We
are good and we are strong.
The people?s pillar is firm ? grooved ? and lagging like an ironing
board; it?s
Macho. It is dusty.
Like
you?ve given it a hard time;
Leaves,
those leaves russet and tender beige ? on benches - pondering out the season
coming.
And
the lotus splendour of the summer day beckons, as all colours gather
In your cobbled square. The Stonehenge of the masses
? gathers these
Vibrant ages of Civilisation: galumphing suburbanite
bricks clean.
All
through that sweltering heat, cultures relive their days. All,
all blossom, and ice cream vans twinkle, yellow, the
spangled heavens, of
Simple Nights ??? lovingly
like????????? babies.
Where
Brahmin love finds its? just cause ?
And
miles beyond a most distant spinning chakra; And
Where
long, idle howls of mongrels finding midnight moonlight -
Live
- Lost and Happy.
There,
lead the people.
We
see, we see proper. We see days of spring. We see the day.
For
you, I would bleed.
