HELLO
The wind whistles along a dark alley,
and the mat lifts up slowly.
The hanging plant withers to and fro.
And the cat is huddled in a crevice.
Such depression and depth I have never seen
Or in a situation so eerie been.
Drums play in a low, bass tone
in my mind.
Walking then along this endless alley.
An end seems utter folly.
The stars that light in shades of silver.
Seem to be falling as if they were on strings of fine silk.
No sky then, just black.
And no front then, just black.
Nothing, absolutely nothing.
Below and inside me, nothing.
Just black nothingness.
Nothingness.
Imagine the shock to be
When a slow voice greets me.
And says that sometimes,
Such things do happen.
I hear a gradual rise of melody
And the path opens in my parody.
"Is it me you are looking for?", heeds
The voice more exotic and hoarsely finer than any.
And then I know
This is what will make me happy.
So too will other things.
But in solitude
One needs a pool full of sweet water
To drink from,
This ideal is cool and sweet.

Comments about this poem:
1
The quality of your poems is superb, the emptiness ands solitude displayed in
this last one, encapsulated in'black' is very interesting. However, are you
trying to contemporary of post-modern? Because the use on 'olde englishe'
somewhat spoils what could be a poem pushing boundries rather than hiding
behind conventions. Just a thought!

hmmmmmm
Well I could read a few things into this poem.
The first that came to mind was death
The second was maybe he came upon a prostitute
The third was maybe drugs
I am not sure any of these things were intended when you
wrote the poem but it does make one think of such.....
In fact all of your poems make one think...they all have an
underlying message in them....
I am not sure what the others you have sent this poem to will
think, but this is what comes to my mind...the one, two, three...
I think one thiing and then think...no, maybe this and that.....
Have a great day
